The 2009 Year 12 Accounting Competition was a huge success with 424 students from throughout Queensland taking part. Student results were graded as Distinction, Credit and Participation. There were 35 Distinctions and 82 Credits awarded.

medallionThe overall winner of the Academic Excellence in Accounting medallion was Douglas Evans from Centenary Heights State High School. Medallions will also be presented to Juliet Affum of Brisbane State High School and Angela Harding of Mountain Creek State High School. Certificates were posted to the schools at the end of term 2.

The Accounting Competition was very successful and I believe students gained so much from it. My entire class wanted to do this competition, I was really amazed by that. Many thanks and I will certainly be doing it again next year. Business Teacher

The Shape of the Australian Curriculum

Click here to read the latest paper produced by National Curriculum Board.

It is disappointing that while the paper states that the Board's work is guided by the Melbourne Declaration on Educational Goals of Young Australians there is no mention about our learning area in the paper. We will be discussing this issue at the BEA AGM and Council Meeting in July and will let you know the outcome of that discussion.

2010 BEA Conference

BEAQ, in conjunction with QETA, will host the biennial BEA Conference on Thursday 15 July - Saturday 17 July 2010.  It combines the annual conferences that BEAQ and ETA normally host. The venue is the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, and will feature one day of industry visits, two days of sessions, and a number of high profile keynote presenters. This is the first time Queensland has hosted this event since 1995. Mark these dates in your calendar. We look forward to seeing you there.
