2010 Year 12 Accounting Competition - April

'Great to see the competition being so strongly supported'

Despite the challenge of two long weekends in a row, the competition was a huge success with 343 students from 42 schools participating from throughout Queensland. 

There were two winners  – Elizabeth Colbran, Brisbane Girls Grammar and Tamara Gunasena, Somerville House.

They will each be presented with an Academic Excellence in Accounting medallion. A medallion was also awarded to Lachlan Smith, Brisbane School of Distance Education.

Student results were graded as Distinction, Credit and Participation. There were 19 Distinctions and 46 Credits awarded.

The organising BEAQ sub-committee would like to thank the teachers who made time in their busy schedule to nominate and supervise the students then collated and returned the papers and mark sense sheets; and the students themselves who, we hope, found the questions prompted them to explore a future in accounting. We look forward to your involvement in 2011.

2009 Year 12 Accounting Competition

'I will be entering my students again next year; they got so much out of it'

The Accounting Competition was held in April 2009 with 423 students taking part. Student results were graded as Distinction, Credit and Participation; there were 35 Distinctions and 82 Credits awarded.

Above left is the overall winner of the Academic Excellence in Accounting medallion: Douglas Evans from Centenary Heights State High School.

Medallions were also awarded to Juliet Affum of Brisbane State High School (centre) and Angela Harding of Mountain Creek State High School (above right).
